Who We Are
GraceLife Christian Counseling was founded in 2013 as a 501(c)3, non-profit, pastoral counseling and coaching ministry. We offer Christ-centered, biblically-based discipleship counseling that is based on Galatians 2:20. Our ministry emphasizes God's unmatchless and loving grace and the all-powerful, life-sustaining resources offered through Jesus Christ and the direction of the Holy Spirit. This approach to Christian counseling is referred to as Exchanged Life or "Christ-as-Life" counseling.
At GraceLife Christian Counseling, we use God's unfallible Word, the Bible, as the primary resource in counseling and ministering to the needs of people. We treat each client with empathy, compassion, and diginity and provide a safe, non-judgmental and confidential environment that encourages healing, comfort and spiritual growth. As we minister to each client, we seek to apply biblical principles to their personal and spiritual problems.

Our Counseling Staff
All counselors at GraceLife Christian Counseling have formal training in both counseling and theology. All counselors have at least a master’s degree in counseling. Our counselors do not carry state licensure. We appreciate and respect the work of the state licensed counselor, but our desire to cooperate with local churches led to us to be on the ecclesiastical side of the separation of church and state.
The American Psychological Association (APA) prohibits counselors from biasing their counsel based upon religion (i.e., prayer, referencing Scripture, involving the local church, mentioning Christ, offering the gospel). According to Principle E: Respect for People's Rights and Dignity of the APA's Ethical Code of Conduct:
"Psychologists accord appropriate respect to the fundamental rights, dignity, and worth of all people. They respect the rights of individuals to privacy, confidentiality, self-determination, and autonomy, mindful that legal and other obligations may lead to inconsistency and conflict with the exercise of these rights. Psychologists are aware of cultural, individual, and role differences, including those due to age, gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, disability, language, and socioeconomic status. Psychologists try to eliminate the effect on their work of biases based on those factors, and they do not knowingly participate in or condone unfair discriminatory practices."
We want to honor the state’s right to define the code of ethics for the counselors they sanction while also maintaining the freedom to counsel without “eliminating the effect” of a “Christian bias” upon our counseling and the freedom to work cooperatively with local churches.

Our Counseling Services
At GraceLife Christian Counseling, we conduct our discipleship counseling and coaching sessions in one of three settings: face-to-face in the office, via telephone or through online video chat/conferencing (ie. Skype). We work primarily with adults. Our counseling services are offered by appointment only. The length of counseling varies depending on the problems and issues being addressed. It is unusual for counseling to take less than five sessions; it typically averages between twelve and fifteen sessions. We are not looking for a "quick fix" but instead we are interested in getting to the root of the problem and making lasting and impacting changes that will last a lifetime. Some of the most critical factors in effective counseling are coming with an open and positive attitude, setting concrete goals with your counselor, and working to stay focused on those goals. Homework will be assigned to help reinforce the material that is presented during the counseling session.

GraceLife counselors are available to conduct counseling seminars and classes at churches, para-church ministries, and other various organizations. The material presented covers the basics of biblical counseling such as the role of the church in counseling today, the composition of man, why man struggles, the flesh versus the Spirit, and the sanctification of the believer. Churches or ministries interested in a seminar or class should contact GraceLife Christian Counseling for more information.

Financial Policies
As a non-profit ministry, GraceLife Christian Counseling is solely supported and able to operate because of the financial donations of its counselees, event attendees, and private supporters. Therefore, it is the responsibility of each counselee to be faithful in making some donation. Your responsibility is to pray about the amount God would have you donate for the counseling you receive and be obedient to Him in your giving. Donations should be in accord with what a man or woman has, not according to what he or she does not have. Therefore, no one will be refused counseling because of the amount of their donation. We have made intentional efforts to keep our operating expenses extremely low. However, there are some expenses that are unavoidable. To help us meet our financial obligations, we have developed a suggested donation schedule based on a sliding scale and will be discussed during the first counseling session.

Third-Party Insurance
GraceLife Christian Counseling does not accept third party reimbursement for our services. This is an implication of our choice to operate as pastoral counselors rather than state-licensed counselors. Some insurance companies will reimburse your expense at GraceLife Christian Counseling as an out-of-network provider. In today’s health insurance climate, insurers are increasingly reluctant to pay for any out-of-network provider, but check what your policy covers. If you have coverage, we are glad to provide you with invoices and other documentation necessary to file for reimbursement with your insurance company. However, you will be expected to make a donation at the time of your session and have your insurance company reimburse you.

Donations
GraceLife Christian Counseling is a non-profit organization that operates on a donation basis. This means our counselees give as they are able. Like the church, we trust that each person gives what they are able. Our ministry and counselors rely upon the generosity of our counselees to provide for our operating expenses and personal compensation.
We seek supporters (individuals and churches) who contribute to GraceLife Christian Counseling so we have the financial flexibility to serve those who cannot afford the full expense of the help they need. In response to these supporter’s generosity we ask those receiving assistance to contribute what they can afford. Many recipients choose to pass on the blessing by becoming regular supporters of this ministry.
Please prayerfully consider partnering with us in this vital ministry.
